I love the ocean, surfing and helping animals! In 2017 I decided to combine my passions and bought a sailboat, and began delivering care to animals that otherwise would not have access to a veterinarian. My partner, Jim, films the veterinary work I do, as well as our life living aboard our boat Chuffed, and we share it with a global audience through YouTube and our social media channels. In 2020 our boat was stuck on land in southern Mexico while we did some major repairs, after so many months out of the water and with no end in sight I found Surfers for Strays after a quick google search of rescue centres in Mexico. I was so happy to find a group of amazing people with the same passions as me - animals and waves! So I spent a few weeks with SFS, helping with difficult medical and behavioral cases, volunteering during spay campaigns and assisting with writing various medical protocols. Since then I have visited a few times and offer help day-to-day from afar by advising on shelter protocols and animal treatments.
I help advise on difficult medical or surgical cases, formulate behavioral plans for dogs and review shelter protocols from time to time. When I visit in person I attend veterinary consultations, work with the shelter dogs and volunteer during community outreach days like spay campaigns.
