Currently a full-time college student in America, I love staying active and filling my days with activities. You can always find me playing sports with friends or at the gym. I like to bike around the city sometimes, enjoying the breeze as I watch the busy streets go by. Outside of SFS, I am volunteering at Qing Wei Lion & Dragon Dance Cultural Troupe as a member and junior assistant coach. I have been lion dancing for nearly 5 years, and it continues to be the place where I can relax while having a good time.
In early 2022, a stray cat suddenly brought her litter of kittens to my old apartment’s backyard. My family and I ended up taking care of her and her babies in our little backyard every day until we moved to our new house. Since then, we have taken in one of the kittens, now a grown boy. Our little boy’s name is “Be Dep,” which, when translated from Vietnamese, means “Lil Pretty.” I love spending time with Be Dep, and he sleeps in my room every night.
While lying in my bed, talking to my sister, she asked me if I was interested in doing volunteer work. Thinking about how I should probably start doing more than just lion dance and going out, I said, “Sure, why not?!” Two weeks later, I was on a call with Eva and had my first assignment two weeks after. So far, I love every minute I get to help out and do my assignments.
At SFS, I am a flight coordinator. I work alongside Eva; together, we help coordinate flights for our pups with our escorts to help bring our furry friends reach their new homes. I love every second of doing this job: the conversations, the pictures, the smiles, … I am happy knowing that I actively played a role in helping these pups find a new place to call home.
