I love being by the beach and exploring new cities and cultures. I'm a bookworm and introvert and enjoy moving my body and getting strong. I get along best with people who like to share food so I can try as many things as possible! I'm from southern CA but have lived in San Francisco for almost 14 years, though I miss the sunshine down there. I always wanted a dog growing up and as an adult waited until I had more space since I knew I wanted a medium sized dog.
I adopted Papaya (previously Palmera) from SFS in December 2022 and she's been such a great adventure and cuddle buddy. She is not a fan of getting wet but also loves the beach, exploring, and snacks. She's silly, sassy, smart, athletic, and always a proper lady with her paws crossed. She loves a good pillow and fireplace to be cozy. She has a fur cousin name Daxton that she is so gentle with since he's a lot smaller. She is still skittish but is a brave girl every day and has taught me a lot about patience and care-giving. I can't image life without her now. I am in touch with the families of her litter mates and it's so sweet to be able to connect with them and share updates about everyone- we've even met up with her brother Cuñado!
After adopting Papaya, I started following the organization on Instagram. When a post about remote volunteering popped up, I bookmarked to look into it. A few months later, I was ready to get started.
I help fill out the medical files of the dogs- this includes things like their history, vaccines, treatments, microchip number. I occasionally make updates to Petstablished and assist with updating the Master List of pups. I also create new spreadsheets for Eva and Minette to keep track of information or reformat some of the old ones to be more efficient. Most recently, I started a long term project of getting updates from our SFS alumni and sharing with the volunteers and for the website team to update the carousel. I've enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes and getting to know more about each dog.
