I have a deep passion for learning all kinds of activities, especially those that connect with culture and everyday life. I truly enjoy tasting traditional foods from different towns and countries, cooking, and laughing (they are my favorite forms of therapy). Nature keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters. I also have a small collection of artwork by local painters all over my place.
We are a family of eight: my husband, two dogs, six cats, and me. Everyone gets along beautifully, and all our furry companions have been rescued from difficult situations. Negrita, the first mama of the SFS program, now lives a peaceful life, happily napping most of the day. Maverick came from the Llanos, and the cats were rescued in and around Zihuatanejo. Each one has a unique and charming personality. And then there’s Pedro, my husband, who lovingly puts up with me every time I bring home another furry friend for temporary shelter.
I was introduced to SFS through Pedro, who is a friend of Thalia (aka Natalie). That was about six years ago, and since then, we’ve been involved in spay and neuter campaigns, fostering, rescues, pet education, and community awareness. It is a lot of work but it is absolutely worth it.
I think my main role is to build a strong connection with the local community. Being Mexican allows me to communicate messages in a clear, respectful, and culturally appropriate way, which is essential for promoting pet sterilization. Also, when there is an adoption request and they want to see if the dog gets along with cats, SFS comes to our place to check how it behaves with mine. They are always happy to help!
I also actively contribute to raising awareness through animal health talks, which I share on social media, especially on Facebook with the goal of educating and encouraging responsible pet care in our community.
